Opening of Vanuatu Aid for Trade Management Unit office On Friday 5 March 2021, the Vanuatu Aid for Trade Management Unit (VAMU) opened its new office at the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, Commerce and Ni Vanuatu Business. VAMU was formed in 2019. It sits within the Office of the Director General and is responsible for promoting Vanuatu’s trade mainstreaming agenda. The Trade Mainstreaming Agenda sets out the operational framework of the unit and is implemented through the following three pillars: policy pillar, institutional pillar and development cooperation pillar. Mrs. Luisa Letlet, Aid for Trade Manager, stated “The new office will give the team a good work environment to motivate the staff to be more productive. I want to acknowledgement the efforts from the Government of Vanuatu as well as the team who contributed to the project.” The Minister of Tourism, Trade, Commerce and Ni Vanuatu Business, Honourable James Bule, said “I am glad to see the nation developing and showing its boldness to move ahead despite COVID-19. This is all part of capacity building and service delivery. I believe that a better working environment will result in better output of the staff. I would like to thank the director general and his staff for this success.” The Minister of Tourism, Trade, Commerce and Ni Vanuatu Business also acknowledged the donor partners such as Australia, New Zealand, European Union, China, Japan and the Asian Development Bank for their support.
